Power in Community Conference will Cover Medicare Basics, Savings Programs, Preventing Fraud, and Where to go for Help
The Area Agency on Aging of East Texas and the Texas Legal Services Center invites the public to attend Power in Community, a free Medicare conference to be held on Friday, June 17, 2016, at Alpine Church of Christ located at 610 Loop 281 in Longview from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
Power in Community will kick off the morning session with classes on Medicare Basics, Age Well Live Well / Texercise, Medicare Updates & Medicare Preventative Services, and Help Paying for Medicare Costs. The afternoon session will feature how to Detect, Prevent and Report Scams and Fraud, and a panel discussion on where beneficiaries can go for help. Panel participants will include representatives from Area Agency on Aging of East Texas, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, East Texas Aging and Disability Services, Health and Human Services Commission, UT Health Science Center, Social Security Administration, Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services, and Texas Legal Services. The conference will close with a question and answer session. See an agenda for the conference here.
“We want to empower THIS community to get the most from their Medicare benefits,” said ETCOG’s Area Agency on Aging Director, Bettye Mitchell. “If you or a loved one receive Medicare, we encourage you to attend the conference and connect with experts in the field. We find so often that many do not understand their benefits, or may not be utilizing all that they can. We can also connect beneficiaries with extra help to pay for Medicare costs, which can mean so much to individuals on a fixed income. Please, save the date and plan to join us for Power in Community.”
