The East Texas Community Chorus is accepting new members through mid-September for the fall semester.

Open to singers high school age and older, rehearsals are held 7 to 9 p.m. each Monday at First United Methodist Church in downtown Longview beginning Monday, Aug. 22.  FUMC is located at 400 N. Fredonia St.  Please enter through the Whaley Street entrance.

Potential singers may join through the second week in September.  Simply come to the rehearsals to get involved.

There is no formal audition process, but singers should be able to solidly hold a choral part with harmony.  The chorus is comprised of choral music enthusiasts and performs music ranging from classical masterworks to choral music of a lighter nature.

Tuition for the chorus is $75.  The chorus can be taken as a Continuing Education credit by registering during the first two rehearsals, or for college credit by registering through KC.

The semester will include a fall concert Nov. 15 at FUMC and will conclude with a Christmas concert performed Nov. 28 at FUMC in collaboration with the KC Chorale, accompanied by orchestra.

The ETCC is run through the KC Continuing Education Department and is directed by Dr. Jim Taylor.

“The ETCC is a warm group that enjoys working hard to make beautiful choral music,” Taylor said.  “Singing choral music refreshes your soul, and the cares of the day fade away as you immerse yourself in it with others.  It fills an important niche in our singers’ lives, and helps make East Texas a more beautiful place.”
