Tuesday, the Gladewater of Commerce took on a western theme as 8-time world champion buckle rider Don Gay joined Rodeo President James Moore and other directors and wranglers at the monthly luncheon. Moore presented Paige Winters with the “citizen of the month” award for her hard work with the rodeo and the community.
Gay said he considers Gladewater’s rodeo to be the best in East Texas and one of the best in the nation.
“Gladewater has been a part of my life since 1970, and the second week of June is rodeo time. My memories in Gladewater are not just rodeo they are friends, family, rodeo milestones, but most of all looking forward to the next performance because it’s always good! Gladewater Roundup Rodeo…I never get tired of sayin’ that!” Gay said.
