The son of a 68-year-old Gladewater couple, found murdered in their home on January 14, was indicted Friday by a Gregg County Grand Jury on a charge of capital murder.
Casey Lansdale, 41, was charged with murder after police found his parents – Raye and Charles Lansdale – dead inside their residence located in the 1500 block of N. Main. Police discovered the murders while on a welfare check. Raye and Charles Lansdale had been reported missing.
Gladewater Police Chief Rob Vine said immediately following the arrest, “Upon arrival officers spoke with and questioned Casey Lansdale, 41, of Gladewater, who stated he lived at this residence and the two missing individuals in question were his parents.”
Vine said Casey told police his parents were not at the house and “provided them with information regarding their whereabouts.”
Police began to question Lansdale and received consent to search the residence for his parents and upon entering the residence located evidence which led officers to believe Casey was not telling the truth.
“Upon further investigation Officers located the deceased bodies of both Raye and Charles Lansdale, both 68, inside of the residence,” Vine stated. “Investigators placed him under arrest for the offense of murder. Casey was transported to the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office jail where he was booked in on the charge of murder and is currently being held on a $1 million bond.”
No motive for the killings has been released by police.
