The resignation of GISD Athletic Director/head football coach Jerrod Baugh was accepted at Monday evening's board meeting. Baugh had submitted his resignation earlier on Monday to Superintendent Dr. J.P. Richardson.
"Jerrod's work made a huge impact at all levels and ages within both the athletic and academic programs during his time at GISD," Dr. Richardson said. "He made sure the needs of the students were met. His work and what he brought to our athletic programs at all levels and to all ages is appreciated. He also generously helped with community sports programs."
Baugh had been with the district since 2010 having previously coached at Longview High School from 2000-2010; Ouachita High School for one year and Caldwell High School for one year.
He had been on paid administrative leave from his position after being arrested on Jan. 12 on a DWI charge. Baugh had just completed his fourth season with the district coaching the Bears to a season record of 7-7 and a 4-deep run in the Class 3A playoffs and Gladewater's first playoff victory since 2001.
