Noel Garner Jr.

Gladewater Police reported that on Wednesday, May 25th, 2016 at approximately 3 AM, GPD Officers responded to the 500 block of N. Ferry in reference to an individual who had reportedly been shot.

When Officers arrived they learned that 42 year old Noel Garner Sr. had been shot by his 19 year old son, Noel Garner Jr. inside the residence where both individuals reside.

As a result of being shot, Garner Sr. had injury to his face, but was able to speak to officers and provide them the details of what had happened. Garner Sr.’s injuries did not appear to be life threatening.

Garner Jr. had fled the scene and Detective Roxanne Warren with the Criminal Investigations Division was called to the scene and she prepared a Search Warrant for the residence to secure potential evidence and an Arrest Warrant for Garner Jr. through the Gregg County District Attorney’s Office.

GPD Officers located Garner Jr. who had fled the scene prior to their arrival a short time later in the 100 block of McKaig Circle, where he was taken into custody without incident.
Garner Jr. was arrested on the charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Family Violence) which is a First Degree Felony.

At this point in the investigation, GPD has no reason to believe any other persons are involved or that this incident is tied to any other type illegal activity involving either individual.
