Bears Top Harmony at the Buzzer

Tied 32-32 with twelve second remaining in the game, the Bears’ head basketball coach called time out to set up the Gladewater’s last shot.  Junior guard Robbie Hodges took the inbounds pass and held the ball as a few more second ran off the clock.  With six seconds remaining, he lofted a pass towards the rim, where senior T. C. Minter caught the ball at the height of his jump and tipped it toward the goal.  It bounced off the rim, but back into the hands of Minter, who banked off the backboard and into basket at the buzzer.    The Bears win 34-32 over the Harmony Eagles at Bill Waters Gymnasium last Friday night.
In a low scoring contest, both teams found it difficult making shots as a 16-16 halftime score proves.  A pair of Harmony three-pointers gave the Eagles a fourth quarter lead.  With thirty seconds remaining in the game, the Bears’ D.J. Allen tied the score at 32 all.  The Bears forced a Harmony turnover that ultimately set up Gladewater’s final and winning possession.
Earlier in the week, the Bears lost to White Oak.  Going forward in District 16-3A competition, the Bears will host West Rush on Tuesday, January 15th and travel to Arp on Friday, January 18th.
