Gladewater City Council’s still-developing ‘Parks & Rec’ board is up for discussion again Thursday night.
It’s the final item on the local elected officials’ monthly agenda March 20 and is likely to be an in-depth discussion topic as the group reviews first draft regulations to establish the panel. Doing so would open up new public funding opportunities for local amenities.
The council will also consider a request for a temporary RV residence at Lake Gladewater. Current codes restrict such structures, and the Lake Board unanimously recommended blocking the ask.
Other items on the meeting agenda (kicking off at 6 p.m. at City Hall) include consideration of a routine measure to suspend CenterPoint Energy’s requested rate increase for 45 days as well as a re-zoning request to convert West Commerce Avenue property from residential to oil and gas for development by Outdoor Management Services LLC. In addition to routine items, the meeting includes a public hearing and council vote on a Wine & Malt Beverage Retailers Permit for 701 W. Upshur, The Sasquatch’s Trading Post.
