White Oak City Council members on Tuesday tapped longtime Lt. Brannon Robertson to succeed Terry Roach as police chief.

The elected officials accepted Roach’s resignation during their February meeting but took no action on a successor that night following about 45 minutes in ‘executive session.’

After some brief action items this week, the group went behind closed doors about five minutes into their 5 pm meeting March 11. They returned to open session at 5:48 pm.

Council member Denny Kienzle immediately made a motion for Robertson’s promotion to lead White Oak PD. The measure passed unanimously 5-0 (councilman John Frazier was absent).

Robertson has been with WOPD since 2003. In 2019, he temporarily served as administrative chief in Gladewater in addition to his duties in White Oak.
